Strengthening the connection between people, food, and the land, one neighborhood at a time

Our Mission

It is the mission of Neighborhood Farms USA® to cultivate a national network of community-based farms that nurture health, resilience, and environmental stewardship. Through education, collaboration, direct investment, storytelling, and practical resources, we empower local farmers and home growers alike, expanding access to fresh food and strengthening the essential role of neighborhood-scale agriculture in building vibrant and sustainable communities across the United States.

Neighborhood Farms USA® is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to strengthening the connection between people, food, and the land, one neighborhood at a time.

Why
Neighborhood
Farms Matter

As a society, we have grown distant from the sources of our food. What once came from nearby fields and familiar hands now travels long journeys before reaching our tables. In that distance, something essential is often lost; freshness, flavor, and a sense of connection.

As this distance has grown, so too has our separation from the knowledge, care, and rhythms that sustain healthy land and healthy communities. Many neighborhoods are left without easy access to fresh, nourishing food, or to the experience of growing it themselves.

Neighborhood farms offer a powerful alternative.

These small, community-based farms reconnect people to where their food comes from and who grows it. They strengthen local food systems by producing food close to home, creating jobs, regenerating soil, and turning underutilized land into productive, living spaces. Beyond food, neighborhood farms serve as places of learning, gathering, and resilience, improving public health, fostering social connection, and restoring ecological balance.

By supporting neighborhood-scale farming, we invest in healthier communities, stronger local economies, and a more resilient future. One that is rooted in care for people, place, and the land.
