Community Gardens

NFUSA’s community gardens are neighborhood-scale growing spaces where residents and partners grow fresh food together while building skills, connection, and resilience. Designed for hands-on participation, through volunteer days, workshops, and seasonal planting these gardens turn underused spaces into thriving community assets that support local food access, health, and environmental stewardship.

Beginning Farmers Training Program

The Beginning Farmers Training Program prepares aspiring growers to manage neighborhood-scale farms through hands-on, real-world training.

Growing Impact Fund

The Neighborhood Farm Mini Grants program supports small, community-based food projects that strengthen local food systems, expand access to fresh food, and regenerate land, one neighborhood at a time.

Shared Harvest Program

The Shared Harvest Program helps neighborhood farms donate fresh, locally grown food to food banks and community pantries, without placing the full financial burden on the farmer.

FIU Mini Farm & Learning Lab

The FIU Mini Farm & Regenerative Agriculture Learning Lab will be a neighborhood-scale demonstration farm on FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus, growing fresh, nutrient-dense produce while serving as a hands-on learning site for students and the community. Through workshops, volunteer days, and field-based training, it will model what regenerative, small-scale farming can look like in an urban university setting.
